Use STAR to be clear, not rehearsed.
STAR is a useful way to organise a real story. Keep it concise and make sure every detail is yours.
Situation
Set only the context your listener needs: the goal, challenge, or environment. Avoid a long backstory.
Task
Describe your responsibility. Be clear about your role rather than claiming work done by the entire team.
Action
Explain the choices you made, how you worked with others, and the trade-offs you considered. This is usually the most valuable part of the answer.
Result
Share the outcome when you have one, or what you learned and changed next time. Use metrics only when they are true and you can explain them.
A practical check
After practising, ask: Could I explain this naturally? Is every claim accurate? Does it answer the question? If yes, you have an answer worth using.
